Preparations are underway for the 16th Pacific Water and Wastewater Conference and Expo (PWWC2025), taking place from 25–29 August 2025 at the National Aquatic Centre in Honiara. Hosted by the Pacific Water and Wastewater Association (PWWA) in partnership with the Government of Solomon Islands, the event is set to welcome over 250 participants, including Ministers, utility leaders, technical experts, and private sector innovators from across the Pacific and around the world.

Held under the theme “Water and Wastewater for All: Connecting People, Policies, and Communities for a Shared Sustainable Future,” the annual conference is the region’s largest and most influential platform for tackling critical issues related to water access, sanitation, climate resilience, and sustainable infrastructure.

A key highlight of the week is the PWWC Expo, which will showcase solutions from over 30 international and regional companies specialising in smart water technology, renewable energy-powered treatment systems, leak detection tools, sustainable infrastructure materials, and more. Global brands and innovators like Clover Pipelines, IDEXX Water, Central Pacific Chemicals, Bluemont Pty Ltd, Moerk Water, and Sustainable Water Systems will be on-site to share technologies tailored to Pacific Island needs.

This conference and expo is a rare opportunity to bring together the people who shape the future of water in our region — Ministers, utility leaders, young professionals, and industry innovators,” said Pitolau Lusia Sefo-Leau, Chief Executive Officer of PWWA. “Each group brings something vital: policy direction, operational expertise, fresh ideas, and new technologies. By connecting them all in one space, we create the partnerships and shared knowledge needed to strengthen water and wastewater resilience across the Pacific.”

Among the many exhibitors is Moerk Water Solutions, whose renewable energy-powered water treatment systems have gained recognition for addressing the unique challenges of remote island communities. In a recent Linkedin post, Moerk Water’s Pablo Delegido Contreras shared:

“We’re off to the Solomon Islands for PWWC25! I’ll be attending alongside our Director of Technology, Mathew Francis, and we’re looking forward to sharing how our renewable energy powered water treatment systems are making a real impact in the Pacific. This conference is a fantastic opportunity to connect with utilities, government bodies, and industry leaders from across the Pacific, all working toward sustainable water solutions.”

The conference will also host the 9th Pacific Water Ministers Forum, providing a rare space for political leaders and technical experts to align on strategies for achieving SDG 6 and climate-resilient infrastructure.

The event opens with a traditional cultural welcome and keynote address by the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands on Monday, 25 August, followed by five days of technical sessions, workshops, and Expo engagement.
